Experience a memorable week of competitive golf, camaraderie and Highland scenery at the Gents Highland Open at Pitlochry Golf Club. Taking place from Monday 14 to Friday 18 September 2026, this long-running tournament welcomes amateur golfers to compete across a challenging and scenic programme while enjoying the warm hospitality of Pitlochry and Perthshire.
Set on an impressive 18-hole, par-69 course, Pitlochry Golf Club offers a rewarding test for golfers of varying abilities. The course combines undulating greens, strategic fairways and breathtaking views, creating a golfing experience that is as visually impressive as it is competitive. Every round brings new challenges, requiring accuracy, concentration and careful course management.
The tournament begins on Monday with the first 18-hole strokeplay qualifying round. This round incorporates the George Hogg Handicap Memorial Trophy and the John “Puff” Rutherford Scratch Memorial Trophy, giving competitors an early opportunity to establish themselves in the field. A second 18-hole strokeplay qualifying round follows on Tuesday, with the lowest aggregate scores determining progression into the matchplay stages.
Wednesday and Thursday are dedicated to matchplay knockout competitions for scratch, handicap and senior players, as well as Plate 1 and Plate 2 competitions. Players who do not qualify for the main matchplay rounds can still enjoy further competitive opportunities, including the Blair Atholl Cup Stableford competition at nearby Blair Atholl Golf Club and the Bill Blair Trophy.
The tournament reaches its conclusion on Friday. The scratch finalists compete over 36 holes, while the handicap, seniors and plate finals are played over 18 holes. Remaining competitors are also able to enjoy courtesy of the course, ensuring that everyone has the chance to make the most of the final day.
More than a golf tournament, the Highland Open is a complete week of sport and socialising. Competitors can meet golfers from across Scotland and further afield, enjoy friendly rivalry and experience the welcoming atmosphere that makes Pitlochry Golf Club such a popular destination.
Entry fees for 2026 are £130 for visitors, £100 for Perth & Kinross Golf Club members, £90 for Pitlochry Golf Club country or international members, and £70 for full Pitlochry Golf Club members. A £10 discount is available when the entry fee is paid in advance.
Whether you are competing for the title, hoping to progress through the knockout stages or simply looking forward to a memorable week on the course, the Gents Highland Open offers a fantastic combination of golfing challenge and Highland hospitality.
